Sales vs Net Profit
Japan has less than half the population than America, so in most cases for the same product ranked on the top page of Amazon you’ll get more sales on Amazon.com than you would on Amazon.co.jp. However, you are competing with more sellers on Amazon.com to try and get those sales. This results in higher CPC cost and having to give away stock to rank and get visibility.
What you must remember is you only make money when you make a net profit.
In Japan you’ll make a net profit from your first inventory, while in the US it is becoming harder and harder to do that.
